Hagen's police force has a new head - Chief Constable Ursula Tomahogh introduces Police Director Ursula Schönberg
The Hagen police force has a new head of the Hazard Prevention/Operations Directorate. Since May 5, 2025, Police Director Ursula Schönberg has been the highest uniformed officer in Hagen.

The Hagen police force has a new head of the Hazard Prevention/Employment Directorate. Police Director Ursula Schönberg has been the highest uniformed officer in Hagen since May 5, 2025. The 43-year-old from Dortmund succeeds Police Director Steffen Mielke, who retired at the end of April. Ursula Schönberg is now in charge of the police force in Hagen and is responsible for over 200 police officers.

"I am delighted that, in Ursula Schönberg, we have been able to recruit a highly committed and experienced leader from the North Rhine-Westphalian police force for our Hazard Prevention/Employment Directorate in Hagen. She not only has a great deal of operational experience and specialist knowledge, but also the ability to motivate people to achieve common goals," said Police President Ursula Tomahogh in her welcoming address.

The stations of the new head of directorate before her move to Hagen were diverse. After successfully completing her studies, Ursula Schönberg initially began her service as a police commissioner in Düsseldorf. She later moved to Dortmund police headquarters. Among other things, she worked in patrol duty, in civilian crime prevention and in a staff unit. In 2018, the current police director began her Master's degree in "Public Administration - Police Management" at the German Police University (DHPol) in Münster and successfully completed it in 2020.

In career group 2.2 ("higher service"), she initially held a management position in the state control center at the State Office for Central Police Services (LZPD) NRW.

Then her path led her back to Dortmund. She was deployed in the Hazard Prevention/Operations Directorate in Police Station 1 and, in addition to general service operations, managed numerous special police operations such as high-risk soccer matches, demonstrations or events as well as other outstanding operational situations in the Dortmund city area.

"I am very excited about my new role as Head of Directorate. My aim is to work together with my colleagues in my directorate, but also across directorates and organizations, to sustainably improve the security situation in our city. A targeted police presence, a low-threshold approachability for citizens and a restrictive approach to combating and prosecuting crime are the cornerstones of this. Strengthening the sense of security among the citizens of Hagen is very important to me," says Police Director Ursula Schönberg.
